The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, study, and bold dog. Their perky, clever, and
devoted attitude makes them endearing to many. The breed is very trainable. However,
if not trained properly they can be stubborn and disobedient.
Strong and
experienced trainers are best for Jack Russells. This energetic breed is best
behaved when given sufficient exercise. Boredom can be the cause of destructiveness. Crate training is recommended for this breed if the dog is to
be left alone at times during the day. In 2003, AKC renamed the breed Parson
Russell Terrier after a legal dispute with the original parent registry
group. AKC is the only registry that calls the Jack Russell "Parson Russell". The
expected life span of a Jack Russell is 15 or more years.
